AB OBJECTIVES: To educate the general public on prevention of AIDS. The
poster depicts a poisonous variety of octopus familiar to the people of
this coastal rural part of South India. The arms of the octopus
encircles different ways in which AIDS can be transmitted to healthy
unsuspecting people. The three pronged fork called Trishul piercing each
tentacle is the weapon of Lord Shiva, the destroyer of all evil. The
poster was used in schools prior to Health Education talks on prevention
of AIDS. The response among the students was very encouraging. Many
questions were raised during the question and answer sessions.
